We live in exciting times. Although we must acknowledge that 2020 was a challenging year, I believe that our future can be bright. Remember that we see the world not as it is, but as we are conditioned to see it. When we describe our world, we describe ourselves, our view of reality, our perceptions--what some people call our paradigm.
In the trilogy of photos above, the sketch on the left might portray a young woman looking off in the distance. You may insist that the circular staircase in the middle leads down to a dark pit. As for the right frame, you might see the face of two silhoutted individuals ready for a confrontation.
How foolish it would be for me to convince you that the sketch on the left represents an old woman wearing a shawl over her head. Or, for me to persuade you that the staircase leads up toward a view of the starry night... As useless it would be to argue that the white goblet in the middle holds the promise of a good wine!
Each perspective is valid in its own context. Yet we must remember that individual perspectives or paradigms must not be confused with truth. What matters is that we have a civil dialogue in order to understand each other's perspective.
