BLIND JUSTICE?

According to “Catholic Vote,” a non-profit organization, pro-abortion activists have carried out more than fifty (50) known violent attacks on pregnancy care centers and pro-life groups during the last two months. Since May 2022, when the draft of the overturning of the Roe v. Wade decision was leaked to the media, violent cases have been accelerating. So far, legal authorities in this country have made no arrests—zero.

Many of these crimes have been attributed to “Jane’s Revenge”, a group formed after June 24, 2022—the day Roe v. Wade was overturned. “Jane’s Revenge” promised escalated violence against all pro-life efforts. These attacks have included documented fire-bombed buildings, arson, destruction of medical equipment, and even the burning of entire supplies of baby clothes. Although these violent assaults against life-affirming groups continue to rise, none of these vandals have been arrested nor prosecuted. And no media outlet has labeled these acts as “hate crimes.” Hmm.

When Roe v. Wade was first passed in 1973, no American citizen had the legal right to bring about violence against those seeking or providing abortions. Those who took the law into their own hands risked arrest and prosecution. However, every dissenting citizen who stood against such practices had the right, and even perhaps the moral obligation, to object peacefully or demonstrate against the Supreme Court decision… NOT to violate the law.

Nothing has changed. It was not acceptable then, and it is not acceptable now. If American law enforcement can retain the respect and support of the citizenry, it must apply justice, especially when it comes to respecting the decisions of the Supreme Court of the land.
